    The seeds of that mustard see are so tiny, yet inside they hold the promise and power for new life. They don’t need to work at it, it just happens. Once it grows, the beautiful mustard plant lights up the world around it.

    That’s probably why Jesus said that “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” As humans, we naturally have little faith unless we can see something with our own eyes. Even though our faith is very tiny, it can be very powerful.

    We each have seeds of greatness within us. Sometimes our greatness has an audience of multitudes and impacts the lives of hundreds or even thousands of people across the country and beyond. Sometimes our greatness is small, focused on an audience of just a few, or even one. But to those few, the greatness is significant, even huge. Neither greatness is better nor more important than the other in the hearts and lives of those touched. In the Bible we read that the tiny mustard seed grows into a tree big and strong enough to provide shelter to a bird and her nest. That bird’s life is impacted greatly by the one seed. Great or small, the seeds we have are ours to plant, nurture, and utilize for the benefit of others.
