It’s the little things, I think, that offer us the greatest joy. For instance, I spied these flowers as I wandered through the wilderness…pockets of happiness in an otherwise harsh environment.
A lotus blossom, floating in a man-made pond
An antique elephant, sporting a daisy-chain necklace
A rumpled swan plays host to faded cactus flowers
Hollyhocks, standing tall and proud beside a ramshackle barn
And after that long day’s journey, I’m finding sanctuary in my own garden.
A Double Delight rose, aptly named
Sweet Gerbera Daisies serve as backdrop to spicy pink carnations
On Thankful Thursday (every day…), I’m grateful for the beauty of our friendship. And I’m wishing you a lush bouquet of life’s most fragrant flowers.
Lovely photos!
Thank you, but I can’t take the credit. Mother Nature created these treasures–I just pointed the camera and clicked. 🙂
How cool to discover a hidden, flower-laden elephant in the bushes! You found all sorts of treasures, but I’m glad you have your own garden as refuge when you come home from exploring/sleuthing.
Have a lovely day, Melodye.
I’ve learned to look in the underbrush, because oftentimes that’s where the richest treasures are hidden. I love that elephant…shh, don’t tell, but I wished at the time that I could sneak him home.
Oh, and also? I’ve stashed the SLR in a special hiding place! 🙂

Lovely — thank you 🙂
Mother Nature puts on a good show, doesn’t she? 🙂
xo
Lovely — thank you 🙂
Thanks, both for the lovely photos and the insight.
Thanks, Barb. I wish that I could have taken you along on the trip. You would have enjoyed my tour guide–such a fan of Mother Nature!
“Honey and Hollyhocks” sounds like it could be a song title 🙂
Love that someone gave the elephant a flower necklace.
Honey and Holllyhocks…
Ha! It *does* sound like a song title. Someone (ahem) should write the lyrics. 😉
I love that little elephant…so charming, isn’t it? And you’re right: The daisy-chain necklace is an adorable touch of whimsy.
It really IS the small, simple things that give us the most joy.
Yep, Joy is everywhere, even when we sometimes forget how to find it.
BTW, I adore your periwinkle (?) icon! Purple flowers against a green backdrop…one of my favorite color combinations.
It’s actually a rosehip rose! I have no idea what the real English name is.
Roses are a member of the apple family. Some roses, especially Rugosa roses, form rose hips that are as big as crab apples — about the size of a quarter! And, in the fall they turn brilliant colors of red and orange, and purple, so I’d say that was a Rugosa Rose.
The color looks somewhat like a Terese Bugnet Rose(Tear – EES boo – nay) but affectionately known as “Terry Bug Net.” But it is a single bloom not a double
You take such beautiful pictures, esp of flowers and other little lovely things. I am especially drawn to that elephant. What a happy little chap!
*sigh* He’s adorable. And I feel guilty for breaking one of the Ten Commandments, but oh my goodness, I COVETED HIM SO…!
Thanks for the complement. In actuality, the trick to taking good pictures is owning/borrowing a forgiving camera. And lucky me, I come across some wonderful subjects. 🙂

Beautiful photos!!! 🙂
Thank you!
Beautiful photos!!! 🙂
Those are such beautiful flowers.
Thank you for stopping by to savor them with me.
Very pretty!
Thanks, K. Do you grow flowers in your garden?
Yes! I have roses and hibicus flowers which attract the hummingbirds I love!
Oooh, I love hibiscus! And roses, too, of course! I’d love to see your flowers in bloom, if you feel like posting pictures… 🙂

How lovely they all are 🙂 My favorite is the swan. It’s kind of quirky, the smooth grace combined with prickles. I like it! Thank you for sharing them all 🙂
LOL, I was captivated by the swan for that very reason. Such a funny juxtaposition…. 🙂

“ungainly old fashioned”
My thoughts, exactly (except you said it much better than I did!). They’re perfectly suited for that ramshackle old barn. 🙂

Great photos! I love the Hollyhocks against the barn boards and your Double Delight rose is beautiful, but my favorite flowers are the spicy pink Carnations. I love, love, love Carnations, Pinks(Dianthus, and Sweet William.
