It’s lovely, isn’t it? I hadn’t heard of Dmitri Shostakovich–his music or his poetry–before this very morning.
I knew his music but not that he was a poet too!

What a lovely poem! I had no idea he wrote poetry as well (I did a 10-page research paper in Russian about his 10th symphony, and am therefore pretty aware of his music).

It’s the first I’ve ever heard of this composer/poet, but I love this piece. It seems so suited for this weekend, for the confluence of high holy days and the beginnings of Spring, and the imagery speaks to my own heart. Happy Easter–and Spring–to you!

I had a lovely Easter, thank you! How was yours? Did you spend time in your garden, perchance?
No Easter gardening for me as it was pouring up here. We went to my in-laws and let the dogs race around the house. Had a wee bit of doggie excitement and were glad to get home early and curl up in our comfy spots.
