Birthday celebration & A happy surprise

He's not all that comfortable with my posting his name or picture online, but trust me, my Prince Charming is a mensch. Handsome, too! As his 5th grade teacher once said: "He's everything a boy should be." ♥

He wanted to take the roadster down PCH last weekend, and who am I to deny a birthday boy his wish? So…since I've vowed to breathe new life into my blog this year, I thought I'd post some pictures of the scenery we encountered. No photobombs of my husband, though–I told you, he's ninja. 🙂

Another poppy, royal purple! This one is for my new friend in Texas, whose name I won't reveal. She contacted me fairly recently, in regards to a blog entry I wrote a while back. We've shared several lovely conversations since then–about flower gardens and tent preachers, and a host of memories about the background experiences we share. She has a gentle way about her–like a guiding hand at the small of your back, or an afghan over your shoulders. Like my Nana, but with a Southern sensibility. These surprise encounters happen to (and for) me, fairly often. Serendipity, synchronicity, and/or miracles, I'm always grateful for these connections, and for the lessons they present.

  5. Beautiful pictures! Glad you and your “birthday ninja” had blue skies. I was down in Carlsbad on Saturday, along PCH, but it took a while for the fog to lift enough to actually see the ocean. 🙂

    • Carlsbad is so pretty, especially when the flower fields are blooming. Don’t you just love that stretch of PCH where the sparkly blue ocean comes into view? Even on a foggy day, it’s beautiful.

      • Yes, although there was a “white blanket” over it on the 26th. :>) Finally caught a glimpse of the shoreline later in the afternoon.

        I haven’t been to the Flower Fields yet. I went to the Museum of Making Music to see a saxophone exhibit, then to Village Kitchen and Pie Shoppe for lunch (and to try the pie I’d been hearing about). :>)

        • Oh hey, there’s a Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad?? I’m going to put that on my Field Trip list!

          As for the Flower Fields, Christine, you have no idea what you’re missing. Acres upon acres of colored ribbons, ranunculus in every hue. Please treat yourself this year. xo

    • I love that Snowy Egret! She (he?) looks elegant, despite those windblown feathers. Cool that you saw one, too, while you were down here! Have to admit, I like the seagull, too. She looks like a daydreamer. 🙂

    • Oh, Lorraine, how is it that you always say the words I need to hear? Thing is, I miss blogging (my LJ friends) so very much. I just lose track of time, what with my writing and all, and before I know it, the day is done. But I crave the companionship here, for countless reasons, so I’m trying to figure out a better balance between putting my nose to the groundstone & hanging out here.
