I’ll be honest: I rarely keep my resolutions past mid-February. I’m not one who’s easily defeated, though, which is why I’m looking forward to a new approach in 2007. Namely, I’ll be rockin’ the new year around a theme.
I’ve co-opted the theme of last year’s Rose Parade, “It’s Magical.” Yes, I’m serious, so please stifle that urge to laugh and roll your eyes!
I know, I know. It’ll take more than a magic wand and a liberal sprinkling of pixie dust to make my dreams for 2007 come true. I’m nothing if not practical. But this theme suits the wide-eyed, generally optimistic outlook I have about life. Also, I’m thinking it’ll help provide balance for my analytical tendencies. And corny as it seems, it’s a good reminder to whistle while I work. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
I’m partnering my creative-minded theme with a left-brained plan. I’ll call it a parade route, just to keep that metaphor rolling. I’ve written out a few fitness goals (I can easily fit back into those size-4 Sevens by late spring), and I’m ready to tackle my organization-related objectives (a decluttered office…no more wishful thinking). My highest priority is being a loving mother, wife, and friend, but selling my first book would rank among the most magical accomplishments of all.
Happy New Year’s Eve!* I wish for you a New Year that’s happy, healthy, peace-filled, and magical.
(*Pour yourself a glass of bubbly, then drop off your predictions for 2007 here.)

Melodye, that sounds like a very good resolution and very similar to mine!
I’m sorry I haven’t been atound LJ at ALL this last week – I’ve had the hosue full of teenage girls, and now they’ve gone off home to England and I can start breathing again! Wow, it feels so Empty asnd Quiet here!
Here’s wishing us both, and all our LJ friends, a gantastically magical 2007!
In a day or two I’ll be back to to the regular programmhave as they say in germany a “great slide! into the New year!

It’s so good to see your smiling face back online…I’ve missed you, but I figured you were busy with family and the holidays. I think great things will happen for us in the New Year, beginning with your book’s submission to publishers. Eeeeee!
I left a link for you/everyone to make predictions for 2007. This time next year, it’ll be a kick to see what’s come to pass and which ideas didn’t happen, for better and worse.

Ah, I love that theme! 🙂 And good for you for writing out your fitness goals. I should do that. I just wish there were more hours in a day, it would be so much easier.
Melodye Shore
Thanks! It’s fun to think about possibilities and plans for the new year. We can cheer each other on, and prod one another when we get off course. 🙂
Melodye Shore
Thank you! I’m wishing the same for you.
Won’t it be fun to see which of our plans/predictions come true?

What’s life without a little magic? Happy New Year everyone!
Melodye Shore
You’re so totally right about that, which is why I think this theme resonates with me. Happy New Year to you, too, my friend. Getting to know you has been pure magic.

Same to you! I hope your 2007 is, indeed, magical!
Who’s the chick in your icon, btw? She looks like she’d enjoy a glass of New Year’s bubbly! 🙂

Happy New Year to you, too, Meloyde!
I expect 2007 to be a year of reaping; the culmination of many expected harvests. The seeds of the magical are often sown in the mundane.
May this be the year they all come to fruition.

A lovely metaphor…thank you so much for sharing these beautiful thoughts! I wish for you all good things in the year ahead.

Let’s just say I’m a big believer in magic wands AND pixie dust, and as my favorite saying goes, “Always reach for the moon. That way, if you fall a little short, you’ll still land in the stars.” YOU, my friend, are a star. Your posts are thought-provoking and eloquent, which means I am certain your book is the same. You’ve had quite a year just since I joined LJ (with everything with your son, your lovely friend passing, and your book)–I do hope 2007 brings you continued magic, fewer heartaches, and more lovely triumphs. Happy New Year to you–and if you’re so inclined, could you loan me a little bit of the pixie dust? :)We all need a dose of magic now and then.

Oh, these are magical thoughts, Cathy. I’m humbled and grateful for your sweet thoughts.
I’m a believer, like you are! (Claps hands and watches for Tinkerbell, while sprinkling pixie dust in your direction) Even when I rail against injustices or bad news, I always harbor hope that there’s something we — or some magical force — can turn things around. Really, though (and here’s a shamelessly mixed metaphor) we’re the ones who hold the power, who wear the magic red shoes. 🙂
