Wow! I don’t know if I can remember ours – but I vividly remember my grandparents avocado Chevy Nova with clear plastic seat covers that looked like bubble wrap. Look how sleek and modern that baby is! And I’d love to know the backstory on the country club guy and his TWO ladies. That is *some* car apparently!
Wow, that must have been so thrilling! (Bet your mama wasn’t all that happy about it, though.)
I’d venture to say that some of our happiest–and most unpleasant memories revolve around our cars. Like it or not, they oftentimes symbolize where we were in the time/space/social continuum.
Hee, I can just picture that Chevy Nova. Automotive trends sure do say a lot about where/who we are in history, don’t they?
The Nomad station wagon was high style back then…top of the line for Chevy. But try to imagine traveling cross-country in that baby: 2 adults, three teens, three younger kids, plus our suitcases and revival gear…all squashed into a single sleek automobile. *claustrophobia ensues*
It’s very cool-looking! Sleek and airy. We traveled cross-country in a blue & white number very similar to the one I’ve pictured–until it was stolen under mysterious circumstances, that is.

I remember a 1953 blue-grey Chev. My father let me sit on the armrest (!) and let me help him steer by placing one of my fingers on the wheel!

Did you cruise around the country in one of these? It’s truly cool-looking.
