It’s really something special. I’ve never lost sight of how lucky we are to live close to the water, even after all these years. Once you’ve gotten settled, I hope you’ll post pictures, too!
Definitely. One of the first things we want to do once we get settled is go to Santa Cruz and Monterey and Half Moon Bay. I told my husband that since I was deprived of the ocean for ten years, that I *need* to see it at least once a month. 🙂
I understand that unfulfilled yearning, understand your “need” completely!
(If I’ve mentioned this before, please forgive me. But I highly recommend you visit the Land of Medicine Buddha when you get settled. It’s in the mountains, not by the ocean, but it’s well worth the trip, in my opinion.)
I participated in a yoga retreat there a while back & loved it! Here’s my blog entry about the experience (mostly pictures), if/when you’re interested:
My husband taught me something cool this weekend–maybe you already know it? You can measure the passage of time by where the sunset happens. Last month, for instance, the sun set behind Catalina. As you can see here, it’s falling into the ocean now, but by this time next month, the sun will go down over Palo Verdes.
Ahhh, gorgeous…and peaceful. I love when you share your sights with us–it makes me feel like I could just meet up with you and take a walk along the beach. Someday, we’ll have to do that!
We had high winds yesterday, too, but they were offset by sunshine.
And I have to say…I love that our little community of LJ friends provide us a sunny, safe harbor. Blustery winds may blow, but we support and sustain each other;and for that, I’m ever grateful. XOXOXO

It’s breathtakingly gorgeous! I can’t wait until I can start seeing views like that for myself on a regular basis. Only a few more weeks. 🙂

I just looked it up and it looks like a beautiful area. I’ll have to check it out once we get there.

Gorgeous — and that’s Catalina out there? I never got to see that view (we saw the sunrises over LA from Avalon).

Yes, it’s Catalina. 26 miles across the sea… 🙂

We will! Let’s pack a picnic dinner, ’cause I know we’ll work up an appetite. A girl gets hungry after all that walking and talking… 🙂
