An unresolved question whispered me awake this weekend. So with my Search Angel riding shotgun, I revved up my Nancy Drew roadster and hit the road.
And so it was that I met a new friend. We share the same grandfather, but her first memories of him reach back 25 years before I was even born, and don't include my grandmother. Family trees are like that–branches grow and twist together, separate and reunite, bear fruit and/or wither. And suddenly, a new branch comes into view. Sturdy limbs, just out of reach…long-held secrets, ripe for the picking.
I won't belabor the connection to the image I've posted. You see the mask…you know. But here's to Fat Tuesday–and secret identies, revealed. It's Mardi Gras, so laissez les bons temps rouler!

I’ve met quite a few relatives “out of the blue,” like this. I don’t know any different, so in a strange way, it feels familiar. π
Happy Fat Tuesday to you, Robin!

I’m always glad for the adventures, but whoa! It’s crazy, the things (people) I encounter in my travels…

Making the connection: Michelle Kwasney and Lyme Disease
Melodye, I’ve looked at that image of the cat in the mask (wait — wasn’t that a Dr. Seuss book?) several times since you posted it, trying to figure out why it strikes me as a bit eerie. At first I thought it was just the strange juxtaposition of the glitzy mask with the cats headβ¦ but after studying it some more, I realized it’s the EYES — they’re not really cat’s eyes. The pupils seem to have been tweaked to look more like human ones.
Congratulations on meeting your new friend/cousin! — PL

Re: Making the connection: Michelle Kwasney and Lyme Disease
Oh, you’re right!!! I, too, noticed something a bit “off” about the kitty’s eyes, but I liked the image overall, which is why I posted it. But now…I can’t help myself. I keep zooming in on those eerie eyes. LOL, and oh well. It’s still a cool picture.

That’s weird…
… I have no idea how “Making the connection: Michelle Kwasney and Lyme Disease” got into the “Subject” heading of my comment. Strange. — PL

Re: That’s weird…
I scratched my head at that one, too, but figured LJ might have done an autofill for the subject line, based on a comment you wrote elsewhere. No worries, though. I kinda like when weird things happen…it encourages the mind to ponder. π
