My view is much different from this mountain top. I’m seeing endless horizons and breathing clean air. Yes, I still have more revisions to write, but today, they seem far less daunting — especially now that I’ve dropped my heavy load of self-doubt.
I’ve picked up a few sherpas along the way, who’ve helped lighten my load even further.
First, a fun diversion: my daily horoscope: “If you’re super-organized, you can pull off something exciting. You win because you show up on time with all the right tools.” I’m a skeptic about astrology, but even in a seemingly random universe, the message sometimes hits its mark.
Also this morning, a note back from my agent about the revisions I sent Sunday. She told me she loves what I’ve done so far, that I’m on the right track. (That’s my left brain speaking; my right brain’s off dancing around the room.)
And last night, I got lots of great responses to my name-calling question. If you’d like to join that expedition, leave your ideas here.
My new goal is to complete my revisions so the proposal can go out on submission to editors by November 12, my birthday. If Emily agrees that’s do-able, I know what I’ll be wishing when I blow out the candles on my cake! So I guess it’s time for me to strap on my climbing boots and go out on another hike.
Get those revisions done and GOOD LUCK!
I’m working on it — and thanks!

So glad you’re over the self doubt. So glad you’ve come to a good, smooth place for your revisions. It’s so exciting. I’m very anxious for Nov 12 — not as excited as you, of course. But I’ll be waiting on pins and needles and blowing out every candle in my house on your behalf that day!
Oh, thank you, Katherine! It’s still scary, and it’s hard worik. But I’m feeling more like I can make it.

YAY for being on the right track!!!

I came home an hour or so ago from a lonnnng day’s journey into night. (Long Day’s Journey into.. WRITE? Can I use that for a blog title?!) I scanned your LJ entry but I can’t respond until I 1: make coffee and 2: tell you how excited I am that we share something in common. Again. I was married on November 12th. Wahoooo. I’ll never forget your birthday. (It’s also my brother’s youngest son’s birthday. He turns 7 on November 12th.) And I turn… green with nausea thinking what # anniversary it is for the Good Mr. WriterRoss and Yours Truly. But I’m whining. I’m just good ol’ “The Wife.” Not a Trophy. ;>
I like that deadline. Very cool date indeedy. {}
Later, cats.
Great title — use it!
I asked Emily about your idea for naming my essays…you got a lot of positive responses from LJers and I liked it, too. But she said she worries it’s not quite the right sound… the rationale that your friend has provided here is 100% spot on, but I worry that, without the explanation, the word doesn’t quite fit.” So…we’re still working on it. You’re creative and clever…keep mulling this over, OK?
About my “ahem…” on your blog…I take you back to our conversation. Don’t you have some editors drooling in anticipation of your completed manuscript. I’m just trying to encourage you to indulge, sate their appetites. 🙂
Emily liked your idea about intermezzo but she feels it doesn’t quite fit w/o a detailed explanation. So we’re still working on a title. You’re so creative and clever. Would you please keep this in mind?
As for the “ahem” I put on your blog. I seem to remember you have editors drooling over the prospects of a completed manuscript from you. AHEM. I’m just trying to encourage you to appease, sate their appetites. 🙂
Yay for November 12 — for Scorpios.
Trophies come in many different styles and shapes.

Hey, Scorpio pal! I’m November 11!
Emily’s response is terrific, and I’m not surprised to hear it. 🙂
Oh, and my husband’s birthday is November 12.
So, that explains a lot! Yay for Scorpios — for us! 🙂
Congratulations!
.. on climbing Evereest! I’m right there with you….

Hi!
The info to change your username is here:
http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=25
It costs $15, but with my husband’s crazy ex and a very nosy coworker, it was well worth it to get my last name out of there! ;-D
