All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.

I bought few souvenirs during our trip to Europe, but my heart is full, and so is my scrapbook of memories.
Still working on reuniting mind and body on this continent, though. Jet lag's a killer! Oh, and a food-borne cootie sneaked home in my tummy–urgh and urp! So as much as I like to travel, I'm loving my pillow, tea and afghan a whole lot.
I'll be back online in a few days; meantime, here's a few photos from our trip. This collection, I'm calling "Entryways and Passageways." Take a peek…I think you'll see why. I'll post more pictures and stories in a few days–depending on your tolerance level for my travelogues, that is! Meantime, buona fortuna and bon voyage, my friends. I look forward to catching up with all of you very soon. xoxo
Your pictures are just beautiful, Melodye!
Do you have a fancy camera? 🙂
Thanks, AM! We have a fancy camera, but I took my tiny-but-trusty CoolPix along for the ride. So much easier than lugging around all that equipment, don’t you think? Of course, it’s what you see through the lens that makes all the difference…. 🙂
I think the light makes a difference, too.
Yes, it does! A woman in Rome alluded to that…she said she favors autumn because “the light is different. It falls more gently on our statues and buildings, and they look more lovely when the sun’s not so harsh.”
Oh, very cool, Melodye! I especially like the one going up the steps in the archway, and also the Coliseum. And the stained glass. And… Okay, so all of them. 🙂 Looks like it was a fabulous trip!
🙂
It was all that and more…So many intriguing passageways and curiosity-inducing doorways!
Oh, amazing pictures! Thank you so much for sharing — I love the theme 🙂 (I hope your tummy settles soon!)
I’ve loved your autumn photos, too. Such a joy to see the change of seasons in your corner of the world. 🙂
Thanks for sharing these! Love your theme :). Feel better soon!
I’m feeling much better now, thank you! And thanks for stopping by to share my pictures. It’s fun to revisit all these places again–this time, with my LJ friends. 🙂
*offers you a macaron, featured in the next post*
Lovely! You seem to have visited a few of my favorite places…
I should have used this userpic, of course!
LOL, yes!!!!! (And we danced….)
I’ll bet we did! It was a fantastical, unforgettable adventure.
You were missed! Welcome back and feel better soon.
I’ve missed you, too! It’s been wonderful to spend so much time abroad, but truly, there’s no place like home.
(Feeling better all the time…not yet 100%, but I’m well on my way.)
Wow… I looooooooooooooooooooooove these pictures, Melodye! They are just gorgeous. I so envy you your travels. Thank you for letting us come with you!!!
*is tickled* I’m really glad you liked the photos. It’s so hard to whittle them down to a select few, which is why I’m posting them by themes. Watch for another batch tomorrow or Wednesday. 🙂
I will very much look forward to them! 🙂
Oh, those pictures are so beautiful. You have a very good photographer’s eye, methinks. I love the tiled doorway, especially, but they all tell a story.
Welcome home, friend!
That’s such a nice compliment, Tracy–especially coming from you. But truth be told, there’s so much beauty in Europe, it’s easy to capture at least a few good photos.
(I love the tiled doorway, too. Such a whimsical entryway, isn’t it?)
Glad you’re back from your trip. Sure do like those photo’s you posted. Now about that bug that came back with you. I have checked with Lula Belle down at her BBQ and Chile Parlor about what you need to get rid of that there bug.Need pinch of Lizzard tails, bat wings, frog hair, and a touch of her hot sauce. Mix well in a gallon of white lightin and take a big swig. Save rest for later on. If bug doesn’t leave within 10 minutes, have another swig. That bug can’t survive a second dose. Let me know if you need some of Lula Belle’s secret ingredients. Now lay back down and read a good book.
LOL, Lula Belle’s homespun remedy is so “out there,” it’s sure to make me better…on the other hand, the cure could be worse than the sickness. Hmmm…I think I’ll relax with a good book, instead. 🙂
Nancy Drew that I am, I’m fascinated by all that’s hidden behind & beyond these doorways and passageways… 🙂 Watch for more photos tomorrow or Wednesday.
I’m so glad to be home. Just as soon as I’m 100%, I’ll be catching up with your adventures, too.
Thank you so much, Amy. I enjoyed my trip immensely, but I’m very happy to be home again–online and in SoCal. 🙂
(I’m sorta jealous of you, living in close proximity to all these wonderful places! Just a train ride away…do you ever venture out of England for weekend adventures?)
