Last week, I needed to coax myself out of a dark, barren corner. (We’ve all been there, haven’t we?) I’m thankful today for Creative Journaling, which helped me reconnect with the shadow-dispelling Light Within.
Two hand-crafted pages in a tiny sketchbook. Not Fine Art by any means; perhaps meaningless to anyone else. But for me, the symbolic value is incalculable.
I also owe a debt of gratitude to Staci Dumoski, who encouraged me to try Creative Journaling. For more information about her monthly workshops at It’s A Grind coffee shop, click here.<!– Copyright (c)2006 Site Me

Oh Melodye, I just love this! It’s gorgeous and inspiring too. And now I’ll take a little of that light for inspiration as I sit down to grapple with–once again–my chapter 16.

These little lights of ours, we’re gonna let ’em shine! 🙂

Beautiful! Thanks for lighting the way :).

Thank YOU!
I’m shy about my “artistry,” but it feels good to share my sources of light/inspiration with my friends (who, like you, are beacons, as well).
🙂

You are a light for me, too, Laura. I’m drawn to the warmth and brilliance of your creative flame.

Very cool — I’ve done a little creative journaling (mostly for the kiddos, for their baby books). Lovely.
Melodye Shore
You are a true artist. I love seeing things through your creative eye.

Ahem. Not to pick a fight with you on your own blog, Melodye. But you are very much mistaken. That’s most definitely Fine Art.
Those two little pages are absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful. Wondrous.
Now, don’t talk back.
Melodye Shore
Hee!!
*Zipping my lips*

And oooh, is that beautiful icon the cover of your book?!?
phoebe_k
Yep, I get to see the ARCs tomorrow! *can’t wait* 🙂

Wow!

That’s exactly what I said when the words and images presented themselves to me. 🙂
(Which is why I’m loving this creative journaling–it reveals things that might not have occurred to me otherwise.)

So sorry to hear about that dark, barren corner! There are too many of those in the world. But bless you for finding some Light and sharing it so beautifully with the rest of us. I think your sketchbook is wonderful.
Melodye Shore
My dark periods are VERY short-lived, but they usually (re)teach me something. I’m grateful for that.
Hey, I just realized something: The woman in your icon looks like she’s contemplating something for her creative journal. Could it be…? 😉
amygreenfield
I think you’re on to something!
Melodye Shore
Do tell… 🙂
boreal_owl
Oh my goodness–that’s gorgeous, Melodye!!! An owl!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Melodye Shore
Oh, I was hoping you’d notice the owl! When I glued it to the page, I thought of you. 🙂
poolhallace
That is spectacular. I think I have to try this. It might be just what I’m looking for! Thanks for sharing yours with us!
Melodye Shore
Oooh, I so hope you do! Your posts are always so insightful, expressive…hilarious. I know you’re creative, and I would LOVE to see how you put your personal stamp on creative journaling.

I’m very, very glad you found something to help bring you out of that dark corner and back into the creative light, Melodye. I love your creative journal. It is very, very beautiful.
Melodye Shore
Thanks, Kevin.
Nobody puts Baby in the dark corner for long. 🙂
How was your birthday, by the way? I was sending you celebratory wishes all day…!
java_fiend
LOL… No, nobody puts Baby in a dark corner for long!!!
Birthday was awesome. Thanks for all of the celebratory wishes!!!

I love this, Melodye… especially the owl! Thank you for posting this.
I could use a little of that light, myself, as my current WIP is driving me bonkers!! I really could use some inspiration… the story keeps nagging at me to write it but my fear is that the project is more than what I’m capable of… guess I’ve slid into one of those dark barren corners.
Melodye Shore
((Sharon)) I understand….
This is why we travel this road together, isn’t it? When our own light falters, our companions hold theirs a little higher.
You have enough light–you ARE the light–to carry your story forward.

Oh this is lovely. I came over to look, again, at your first journal pages you shared and found this. I would be drawing a stick figure….because that’s all I can manage. I just love what you are doing and you are, indeed, an artist.
