September is National Library Card month. Maybe you already knew that, but I just found out this morning. So on this Thankful Thursday, I'd like to pay tribute to a humble treasure: my OC Library card.
Here's what they issue where I live:

Still, I have a giant soft spot for my little ol' library card. Granted, it's not pretty. But it's useful. And oh, the portals it leads me through!

Yup. It’s handy to know the number if I want to put a book on reserve when I’m not in the library.
Heh, I agree, and whew, thank goodness for Autofill! My PC’s pretty good about remembering numbers, which is a good thing, since I reserve library books online all the time. 🙂

My elderly relative might be biased, but she told me she loves the book, and that she’s learned something new from every story.

Libraries are one of the best investments a community can make. (Much as I love books, but I can’t afford to buy everything that catches my eye…)

It does? Lucky you. Unless your library building is a cinderblock-ish affair. In that case, a graphic might be better.
My NYC card has a library lion on it. I love the Los Angeles County Library card. But any card will do as long as I can take books out.

Well, hmmm. Good question! I think either one is plausible (if not preposterous), but I’ll go with flying, since it’s airborne over the ocean, a vast expanse over which to jump. 🙂

Melodye, I looked a little closer at that image and the forest area in the background made me think it was very likely a lake — which, if that elephant could jump like the Incredible Hulk, would be no problem to clear. But I can see how it could also be interpreted to be an ocean, just with a shoreline close by. We need more clues! — PL
One of the reasons I got a Nook was so I could get books from the library instead of schlepping them back and forth (and paying those late fines, lol). Unfortunately I haven’t yet figured out how to do it.
