oh happy day
Can I get a witness?
I’m thrilled beyond words to announce that I’ve just accepted an offer of representation from Bob Diforio and Mandy Hubbard of D4EO Literary Agency. Lucky me, to have my memoir jointly repped by such a powerhouse team!
Read this, and you’ll understand just how fortunate I am to be working in tandem with agents of their caliber. Soon, very soon, they’ll be submitting CAN I GET A WITNESS? to publishers. Oh happy day!
How will these next few chapters unfold? Haven’t a clue, but Nancy Drew is on the case! If you wanna ride shotgun, just subscribe to my blog and you’ll get email notices whenever I post updates on my adventures. While you’re at it, please join me on Facebook and Twitter.
Say Amen, Somebody
Performing with a renowned gospel choir has always been near the very top of my bucket list. It’s one of those dandelion wishes that makes my heart sing, that speaks to my greatest joys & deepest fears.
Not that I fully expected it would ever happen, but I’m not one to discount any possibilities. I mean, miracles do happen..

Well…The Harlem Gospel Choir just posted this event to Facebook:
Looking forward to our workshop and concert @theccae California Center for the Arts in Escondido CA on Sunday Feb 15 at 7:30pm. #HarlemGospelChoir #theCaliforniaCenterForTheArts #escondido #Escondido #ESCONDIDOCA #SANDIEGO
And it just so happened that I saw it while scrolling through my news feed! So excuse me while I retreat to my fainting couch with a vial of smelling salts, because, oh happy day, I’m registered for an ensemble workshop with THE HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR, y’all! And if that’s not enough of an anointing, lol, I’ll have an opportunity to sing with them at an evening performance!
We did it!
And right before Independence Day weekend, how perfect is that?!?
It required sustained concentration, and a great deal of time and energy. But I couldn’t be happier about the outcome, and all it means to my beloved family.
Thank you for sticking by me during my absence from LJ. I’m grateful for your kind words, prayers, and support. Believe me when I tell you: I couldn’t have done it alone!
What’ve you been up to, I wonder? I’m craving virtual tea and scones, and the very real connections I share with everyone on LJ. And oh, I’ve missed so many wonderful stories–tell me everything you know!
I’ll be blogging again next week, I promise. And returning — at long last — to WITNESS.
Oh Happy Day!
No matter our individual politics, all Americans have much to celebrate today. Even if "our" favorite candidates or issues went down in defeat, We the People have spoken. We participated in record numbers during the election season — as volunteers, and then voters. We brought previously disengaged and disenfranchised groups into the fold. I hope that same spirit of involvement and inclusion will help unite us, as we move forward into our shared future. That’s a change we can all believe in.
