The fabulous and the frivolous
Fearless. My older son works for Microsoft. He has a very creative job, and he brushes shoulders with many talented people. In his latest website launch, Fearless, he profiles his all-time favorite movie producer, David Lynch, and other courageous souls. Tres cool, don’t you think? (Go on, take a look. Indulge this proud mama.)
Frippery. The latest issue of SisterDivas Magazine is now available online. In All that Glitters, I dish with my hairdresser about holiday beauty.
Flowers! Red camellias and snow-white azaleas are blooming in my backyard (see photos).
Fine-tuning. I was on overload this weekend, blown back by an (over)abundance of election-related advertisements, editorials, and blogs. I needed to unplug from politics for a little while, and I know many of you felt the same. This morning I feel rested, optimistic, electrified.
A healthy democracy is noisy—oftentimes cacophonous. Sadly, we’ve grown accustomed to complacent silence. If we want to see the changes we’re hoping for, we might need to tune up our vocal chords and retrain our ears.
Finally. These quotations inspire me always, but I’m counting on them to help me stay centered today. Also, yoga, which is where I’m headed next.
The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference. –Elie Wiesel
[W]hatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. –Philippians 4:8
