“Seventeen” reviews DEAR BULLY
Never in my life did I imagine it’d actually happen, or for something as meaningful as this. No, my name’s not mentioned…but DEAR BULLY is, and that’s all that matters.
The stats: Dear Bully is a series of short stories from major authors about bullying and being bullied. It hits bookstores September 1.
The gist: Authors Carrie Jones and Megan Kelley Hall started a Facebook group for authors wishing to connect after the tragic suicide of Pheobe Prince last year in Massachusets. They realized that each member had a story to tell, and that lead them to reach out to other authors to share their personal experiences with bullying. The book features short stories by authors you already know, like Marlene Perez, Lisa McMann, Alyson Noël, and Aprilynne Pike, plus a bunch of other writers who you’ll grow to love. Each author brings something real and honest to the collection.
Our favorite part: The most powerful story is a short letter to the author Carolyn Mackler, and her heartfelt response back to the young girl.
You’ll love it if… You know someone (or are someone) who’s ever been involved in any type of bullying incident. There’s something in it for everyone, on all sides of the spectrum. You’ll love it even more if you can find a story that inspires you to help someone else.
