  1. you know I never understood why Billy Graham was kind of recognized as a “real” preacher and others were not.
    Does that make sense?
I guess I thought all l”revival” preachers were the same, except for some reason he is not grouped with them, he seems to be more ‘acceptable”… I don’t know if that makes any sense at all. Love the interview!

    • I think Billy Graham was more respected and was never involved with scandals. He was more genuine I think…more concerned with saving souls than collecting dollars…compared to others I’ve known of. I think he crossed over denominational lines better.

      • He is definitely a well-respected preacher and person. The controversial issues appeared much later in his career than they did for most. But by then, he’d already established himself as a man above reproach (among his followers and friends), so maybe it was harder for people to reconcile those new revelations with his established reputation.

    • Yes, I understand your question, but I’m not sure I can give a full-fledged answer before completing my research. I believe Billy was more conscious about the image he projected (especially since it was on a larger stage, so to speak). He monitored people’s perceptions of his actions and words, sometimes altering the course of his behavior to avoid negative perceptions. Later in his life, some controversial things came out about him, but they didn’t have the same impact as other preachers’ misdeeds…maybe because of the groundwork he’d laid earlier in life.

  2. I love this interview and how they play off each other.
And Woody Allen – he’s so good natured when being upfront about his atheism(but will God show up?).

I would love to see these questions asked today by an audience and not have it be so controversial.

  3. Wow! What a great interview! Wouldn’t it be nice if all discussions like these could be so lighthearted. 🙂

  4. Thanks!

I think it should be required watching by Elisabeth Hasselback- The View – and she should be tested on it — how to speak with respect and no shouting

    • Re: Thanks!

I’d be so very happy to see people of opposing opinions be able to carry on courteous conversations like this one. Seems like TV “debates” turn into shouting matches, rather than an exchange of ideas.

    • Oh, that’s fabulous! Thanks for sharing it with me. I’m not a huge fan of Woody Allen’s acting/movies, but it’s nice to see him in this forum.

  5. That was pretty interesting. I just can’t help but think though, that ol’ Woody is a big fibber… he advocates the legalization of pot but he doesn’t use it and discourages the use of it? lol… I don’t buy it. Reminds me of Clinton’s “I never inhaled.” lol….
