‘Twas the day before Thanksgiving, and all through our house
Not a creature was cooking, not even a mouse.
Our dinner, we ordered from Marie Callender’s with care
In hopes that turkey with all the trimmings soon would be there.
I admit it: my little poem sux turkey gizzards doesn’t do the holiday justice. Neither do my culinary skills — hence, the Turkey-to-Go order. Take a look at the picture of the holiday meal I ordered…doesn’t it look delicious? Holiday heresy, you say? Hey, when it’s 75 degrees outside, who wants to heat up the oven! And as for not having to shop, cook, or clean pots and pans afterward (time I can instead spend with family and friends)? Priceless.

This holiday weekend, I’m giving thanks for you, my friends. I learn from you, laugh with you, and am grateful for the community we share. Here’s my not-homemade-but-truly-heartfelt Thanksgiving card for you because, well, I’m not an artist, either.

Happy Thanksgiving, my dear! I didn’t know Marie Callender’s did a Thanksgiving dinner-to-go. I’ll have to remember that. My mother-in-law is doing the cooking this year, so I’ll help with dishes and that’s about it for me. 🙂
I’ve been known to do the entire feast for thirty, but the past few years, I’ve been requested to do the desserts. Pies this year– they will include chocolate/orange custard, apple, pecan, and Key lime.

My mom and dad were both fabulous cooks, so I never learned how to make a turkey – and in France we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. But this year I bought a small turkey and plan to make a turkey dinner.

Oooooh! I had no idea Marie Callender’s does a Thanksgiving Dinner to go. Good to know! I LOVE having people over for the holidays. I love to cook–but it ends at the side dishes and desserts. Turkeys are not my forte, and, although I do try and cook them, I make no promises about whether or not they will be cooked correctly. I’ve been known to undercook and overcook. 🙂 Yikes!

Your feast looks wonderful! I’ve only cooked one Thanksgiving Dinner in the last six years. When my husband was living he loved having all the pomp and circumstance: the ‘good’ china, cloth table linens, etc. But now it just doesn’t seem worth the effort.
This year, my son and I are going to a friends home – they’ll do the cooking, we’ll bring the wine.
LOL! I’m delighted because this year, we’re going to my mom’s today for a lovely meal (that I don’t have to cook) and tomorrow we’re going to my FIL’s for another lovely meal (that I don’t have to cook)…ahhhhh:)
WIsh I could order from MC — but she’s not up here in Utah anymore for some reason or another OH it’s because I live in the first land of do-everything-yourself…except I’m from California, people!
