It’s funny. I couldn’t stand watching Mr. Rogers when I was home sick from school, the only time I was allowed unlimited television watching. I would watch ANYTHING just for the sake of watching tv, but could not watch Mr. Rogers.
But as an adult, I came to appreciate him. He was a great guy.
I admire the work he did, and the humble spirit in which he conveyed his messages. Love, joy, and acceptance–timeless themes that take a lifetime to fully comprehend, much less absorb.
P.S. I wrote him a fan letter when I was recovering from cancer surgery. He wrote me a lengthy letter (on a typewriter!) in return. And he also mailed me a signed poster. In his scrawly, sprawly handwriting, he said that said he was glad to be my neighbor. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Okay, now I TOTALLY ADORE Mr. Rogers. I hope you still have the letter and poster.

Hearing Mr. Rogers sing is a comforting thing. But reading (really reading) the lyrics on your own adds a whole new dimension to the song.
Oh, that brings back such memories! I was a hard core Rodgers watcher as a child!
I never saw Mr. Rogers when I was younger. But when my kids were little, I used whatever excuse I could to sit down and watch it with them. (Obviously, I was more enamored of him than they were.)
