Walkin’ on…

The wolf is at the door–all hoary breath, sharp fangs, and flinty eyes. Who’s brave enough to invite him in?

I am!

I throw back the lock, twist the knob…

His shadow fills the doorway.

I brush Fear aside, allow him entry. 

Sometimes my knees feel ready to buckle. My voice quavers, and my hands tremble. But I draw comfort from the fact that I’ve got a stash of secret weapons. I’m surrounded by loving friends and family. I’ve tucked songs about Hope into my heart. Plus, I’ve got my pointy gel pen at the ready! Smile

(My voice teacher, Stacy Pendleton, is working with me on this song right now. The lyrics are especially meaningful. Also…while the Carousel version is nice, I chose this one for its Gospel stylings.)

    • It’s a VERY challenging song! But when it came up on my MP3 player (my collection of Gospel songs), I got all teary-eyed, which was a signal to me that it’s the right song, at the right time. So here we go… 🙂

      Okay, let’s talk office supplies, shall we? Which brand of gel pen do you like? I’m really into the Uniball Jetstream. Alternatively, their Vision Elite works well for check-writing and airplane travel. Plus, it comes in lots of cool colors.

      • Oh, I’ll buy any sort! I’ll buy them at the supermarket, at the office supply store, at Target. Just now I used a gold one to decorate the back of a Deep Red envelope. So satisfying.

    I just listened to Bernadette Peters singing You’ll Never Walk Alone – on one of my Pandora stations, & then I stop by here to see what’s new with you & you’ve posted the same song!

    The song always reminds me of Jerry Lewis = he sings it at the end of his Labor Day Telethon.

      Isn’t it weird, how these seeming “coincidences” keep on happening? Maybe the universe is speaking to both of us simultaneously. 🙂

      I haven’t heard the BP version…I’ll check it out. But would it be wrong to say that I’m not all that fond of Jerry Lewis? He does important work, no doubt from his heart. And yet…well, I just can’t explain it.
