I took these photos in Laguna Beach today, just before my voice lesson. It was such a beautiful day–sunbeams danced in the azure waves, and hummingbirds darted across the endless blue skies.
*happy sighs*
I am so gone on these creatures! Take a peek…I’ll bet your heart goes pitty-pat, too.

Oh yes did you ever make a heart go pitty pat. These are great. We do not have the little humming bird but when one sees a very large eagle, that can also make ones heart skip a beat. Don’t miss the chance God gives us to see his handy work all about us.
Melodye Shore
Eagles are cool–so majestic and powerful. But hummingbirds are tough little critters, too. Beautiful, but watch out if they think you’re invading their territory!

They’re very dignified. They look as though they’ve stopped at their sidewalk cafe for a refreshing drink.
Melodye Shore
Aww, they *do* have an air about them, don’t they?
I’m so loving your February posts. You’ve come up with so many clever ways to celebrate the month. (Is this a leap year, by the way? That’d be fun…)

They are adorable!

You are so sweet to stop by and share my obsession. I swear, people are going to start thinking I’ve got a fetish. 🙂

We lack trees where I live so I love to see birds. 😉 I just told my husband the other day that we have to put up some feeders this spring since he opened our back yard up more. (We used to just have a fence around our pool, but last year he extended the fence line.)
Melodye Shore
Birds are harbingers of happiness, at least for me, and an endless source of entertainment. (Well, except for scavenger birds, like buzzards and such, lol.)
So yeah, I’ll cast another vote for feeders. Have fun researching…there’s a lot of good advice out there about feeders/seeds. I’m learning as I go. Main things to consider: avoiding/thwarting unwanted pests, and attracting the birds you like best.
Hope you’ll post pictures. 🙂

What lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us. I can’t wait until my plants and trees are big enough for them to decide to maybe nest around my place.
Melodye Shore
Such a treat in store!
Have you planted lavender and salvia ? They’re especially fond of *snicker* “Hot Lips.”

****Deep sigh**** Thanks for the happy!!

You are so very welcome.
A “happy”–a Southernism, right? Now that makes *me* happy!

Oh, they are gorgeous creatures. And what a good photographer you are. Thanks for sharing your beautiful friends with us.
Melodye Shore
They’re gorgeous beyond words, and I felt fortunate to see so many in one place. And I feel very lucky, too, that Imy friends appreciate their beauty.
Not a good photographer, but I’m willing to keep snapping away with my Coolpix until I get a decent shot.

I love to see their whirring wings in action. I can almost hear them. They’re truly amazing creatures and they’ve found their champion in you! Thanks for sharing your pics, Melodye.

Hee, I just said something similar to Jama, right before reading your comment.
Thank you for being willing to indulge my obsession. Good friends are like that, right? I feel as if they’re my talismans somehow. Sad, though, that the hatchling I linked to on camera is struggling to survive. 🙁
tracyworld
I’m sorry about the hatchling, Melodye. Didn’t know it was struggling. That’s so very hard to watch (as we both know).
Sending strong thoughts that way…

Lovely shots. I like to watch the hummers out the window here, but I’ve yet to take any good pictures of them. Maybe when the weather is warmer and I don’t mind sitting still outside for a time…

You’ve got some Fancy Nancy equipment, so you should be able to get some wonderful shots. My tiny Coolpix pales in comparison, and my limited “expertise” is no match for your mad photography skilz. So…get out there, girl, and find some hummers! 🙂

So sweet, aren’t they?
Wondering…what kind of birds are you seeing where you are?

Great photos, Melodye!. Thanks for sharing them with us. I love Hummers and can’t wait for spring to arrive so I can replace my daylilies by the deck with glads which are one of their favorites
Melodye Shore
Your daylilies grow during the winter?
I love gladioli. I didn’t know that hummers liked them, but it makes sense, given the bright colors of their huge blossoms.
