I asked on a previous entry, here and on Facebook, if anyone knew the name of this beautiful tree. No one did, at least not off-hand, but you pored over your plant catalogs and books, and dug through the darkest recesses of your memory banks, in search of its common or Latin name. You even donned your Google Goggles. (A Nancy Drew accessory, if ever there was one!)
I appreciate that you hopped into my roadster, that you searched for clues with me.
Thanks to my friends at Rogers' Gardens, I can now identify this as a Pink-Ball Tree, aka Dombeya wallichii. I'm posting its name here, in case I forget. I also thought you might enjoy closing the circle on this mystery 🙂

well of course, that’s what it is. Just look at it! 🙂
By whatever name, it would be beautiful…

LOL…I know, right? Common sense, meet curiosity. 🙂
It *is* beautiful. I’m coveting one for my garden.
Good to see you here, by the way! We miss you ’round these parts.

I love when these kinds of mysteries are solved 😉
Melodye Shore
We’re alike that way (among others)! 🙂

I would love to grow a tree like that one here.
Melodye Shore
Me, too! I’d smile every time I looked up at those poof-ball pink flowers. 🙂

I have seen and even had one that had white balls on it. It is called a snowball tree. They are really pretty just like this one. I just love it when a case is closed. Have a great week.

A white one? I’ll bet that was really pretty. And fun. Like giant snowballs, lobbed from the sky, but arrested mid-air. 🙂
Melodye Shore
Wouldn’t that be nice? Warm beaches aside, I think tropical vacations appeal to many people (in large part, anyway) because of exotic plants like this.
Is it snowing where you are?
Melodye Shore
I googled it like crazy…
Nancy Drew meets her match, lol! It took a slew of detectives to figure this one out, didn’t it? What fun, to solve a mystery together. 🙂
