A restful view from a friend’s front porch in Western Massachusetts. Prime view, premiere seating.
Toadstool among fallen leaves, spotted in the lush green lawn of a rural Massachusetts library. Do you suppose fairies read books under that speckled umbrella?
White steepled churches in the center of town, and autumn festivals that feature handcrafted quilts and clocks, hot apple cider and fresh-made donuts (York, Maine).
A magnificent sunrise in coastal Maine…
…and a family of deer, watching me watch the sunrise.
Cemeteries that provide sanctuary for the living and those who came before us (Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in Concord, Massachusetts).
Impossibly brilliant foliage, on Walden Pond.
Homes that bear silent witness to history, former residents and guests (Olde Manse in Concord, MA).
Impressionistic views along the waterfront in Turners Falls, Massachusetts.
Bookstores that support readers and writers, and the stories that bring them together.
The joy that comes of seeing the first snowflakes of winter, and then heading home to sunshine.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. Love the snow falling. I don’t get to see that much out here in California!
Thanks for stopping by to share these adventures with me. 🙂
We definitely don’t see snow in sunny SoCal, so this was a special treat. Fat, whisper-white flakes, falling around my shoulders–a magical moment, maybe in part because I know I won’t be shoveling my driveway all winter.
Love these photos, especially the impressionistic view and Walden Pond. We got some snowflakes on Saturday, too.
Seasonal colors, reflected on water. Is there anything more beautiful? I think not. Mother Nature has a flair for colors like no other.
But snow…already?!? I hope you don’t have an overlong, uber-cold winter!
Wonderful impressions. It was great to spend time together!
There aren’t sufficient words to describe the wonders, warmth and beauty I experienced in New England. Thank you for sharing your world with me, Jeannine.
Such gorgeous photos. I so love fall and the upwelling of vibrant colors. And that little bookstore! It would be such fun to spend time there. Thank you for sharing!
Oh Terri, you would’ve loved browsing The Barrow Bookstore. So charming, and quintessential New England. The owners are wonderful, and the bookshelves…a girl could get lost in their offerings!
Lovely! Thank you for bringing some (autumn) sunlight to my day, Melodye!
So glad to share it with you, Oritte! Jeannine and I were awestruck by the autumn sunlight. It slanted through the trees just so, setting some leaves afire and bathing others in its afterglow. Words fail–you have to see/experience New England’s autumn magic.
Such lovely pix. Actually gorgeous might be bette word.
Awww, thanks, Carol. I’m looking for signs of fall, here in sunny Southern California, but most of them are subtle. Wondering: How does autumn present itself where you are?
Beautiful. The home in concord “bearing silent witness” to history is my favorite.
Ah, we are kindred spirits! It captured my attention, too. I didn’t have time to tour the Olde Manse, but I’ll definitely plan for that on a future visit.
Vivid, dynamic, professional and generous of you to share them with us.
