  1. Hope you stay safe. It’s raining here but not as crazy as they made it sound. At least not yet. Still I wish I didn’t have to drive somewhere every day this week because stupid things happen out on the road.

    • Glad you’re safe and (relatively) dry. On my way home from a writers’ meet-up, I drove through lightning and sheets of rain. And when I got home–a flood in my garage and family room. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

    • Glad you enjoyed it, Barb. Bill Cosby’s one of my favorites. He harkens back to a time when comedy wasn’t so…um, raw.

See the lake in your icon? That’s what my garage looked like when I got home just now. And my family room was well on the way…

  3. Bill Cosby does the best sound effects.

I remember when it rained in LA. Every driver slowed down to about 15 mph and it took forever to get anywhere. I always thought they were worried about hydroplaning but I guess it was the oil slicks.

Stay warm and dry, and I hope everyone drives 15 mph so there’s no craziness.

    • Thanks for your good wishes. Keep ’em coming, please. I navigated carefully through flooded streets just now (didn’t wanna risk the crazy freeways). Came home to a flooded garage. Also? Water’s lapping up against the French doors in the family room, due to the lake that’s forming in my back yard. Can’t find the storm drains–they’re buried under mud.

      • OH NO! That sounds awful. I wish I could come over with my bucket and help you bail out, Melodye. I feel really useless right now.

Definitely, ALL GOOD AND DRY THOUGHTS coming your way…….

  4. I feel terrible that the mudslides are ruining people’s homes and turning their lives inside out.

The rain is definitely welcome. We need it badly. But it comes at a price for a lot of people.

    • Is it flooded where you are? I’m beginning to think that an ark’s not such a bad idea…

Sirens are blaring…I’ll bet there were a lot of accidents in the storm that just blew through. Stay safe, my friend, and dry.

  5. Stay warm and safe, Melodye. I hope it eases up soon and the sun comes out once more. I’m hoping for dry weather when I fly down to the bay area on thursday for a retreat in the mountains. But it sounds like it’s rainy there too.

    • Hmmm, I hate to rain on your parade (so to speak, ha!), but I think we’re facing storm after storm for an entire week. But you’re more prepared for it than we are…and I seem to remember that you have a beautiful blue raincoat, which you might consider packing.

Safe travels, Lorraine. I hope your retreat is refreshing and inspiring.

  6. Stay dry, Melodye! Mudslides, earthquakes, forest fires… ever think of heading back east? The worst we have here is a few months of snow, and once in a while an ice storm and a few days of nippy below zero weather.

It’s snowing as I write this, but shouldn’t amount to much, a couple of inches maybe.

    • Uh, no. The East Coast is lovely…enticing in the summer. I’ve got some wonderful friends on that side of the continent–including, of course, you! But I’m not a fan of snow and ice, and I hate like the dickens to be cold. (Secret childhood fear: that I’d wind up like The Little Match Girl.)

  7. Well now just pack your bag and head out here. Plenty of space for rain to fall without much flooding, no mudslides, and plenty of dry weather. That is except for the storms y’all send our way. May get some rain but not much. We are dry. Ever heard the saying ” It’s dryer than a popcorn toot?” It’s mighty dry out here. We do have 4 seasons out here. Spring and fall are 1 day long. Just trying to put a little smile on your face. :0)
    Stay dry, warm, and safe.
