    • When it *is* your turn, I’d love to volunteer for an auntie role, if it’s open. I’m guessing others of us would happily join THAT party. 🙂

  1. Melodye–I loved this! I should’ve made my response a Mother’s Day one–wonderful idea! I hope you’re having a lovely Mother’s Day. My kids painted me a vase and a coffee cup at Color Me Mine for Mother’s Day, and Bailey made me a hot plate holder at school–and you’re right…homemade gifts are the best. I have framed their art and hang it in my apartment, because really…what else is lovelier than the memories of the days when they created them?

    Ah….thanks for posting that…I hope your day is as lovely as you are.

    xo,
    Cathy

    • Treasures, all of ’em — the kids *and* the handmade gifts.

      And your kind words, Cathy, made me cry. In a good way. 🙂

      Happy Mother’s Day?

      XXOO

      I saw that for the first time last weekend. GREAT movie! I loved the music…and Effie? That girl’s the best!

    Melodye, as if I needed one more thing to turn on my perpetual water works today, your words above have just reduced me to a weepy, wonky, woeful mess. Yegads, woman. You know the way to make me cry. Not out of cruelty. Out of honesty and sensitivity and memory and sensory appeal. Not many writers can trigger the aroma of a baby’s soft-cleansed bottom but you just did. Never underestimate the power of the odor of powders and Desitin and baby shampoo and warm bath water. That is what comes to mind when I think of those sweet and magical babyhood days.

    To all of us who are mothers, to all of us who are daughters, to all of you who are children, to all of you who are parents, my wish is that every day of your life is a reminder of the joys of life. Precious they are, indeed. {}

    Happy Mama’s Day, Melodye. Your two babies hit the jackpot when the stork sent you their way.

    What?

    You mean.. storks aren’t real?

    Never mind. ;>

    -Pamela (you should have seen MY eyes when Roni S. told me in 5th grade where =I= came from; I said “NO WAY. NOT MY PARENTS. NO WAY.”) ;>

    note from Pamela: deleted and re-posted after I caught a typo on my fishing pole {}

  5. Melodye, thanks for sharing your mother moments with us. You put such a big smile on my face that now I, too, look like the picture on your ceramic tile :]

  6. Awwww… those are some very precious memories indeed. A little late to the party as usual, but I wanted to wish you a very happy Mother’s Day, Melodye. I hope your day was special.

  7. Hey, Melodye!

    Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, and thank you for sharing those wonderful mommy moments!

    Gisele 🙂

      • Thanks, Melodye!

        I had a relaxing Mother’s Day, which was nice! Hubby even took care of supper. *grin*

        And I’m glad you like my butterfly! She is pretty striking, uh? 😉

  8. How beautifully put, Melodye!! YOu’re sweet disposition shines through in your words and your picture!!! I know you are a delightful, caring, attentive mother!

    • Aw, thanks, Katherine. That’s the most wonderful compliment imaginable. Being a mom is a sacred trust and wonderful joy, isn’t it? I’m sure your kids feel the same way about you.
